Why I Switched from the Baratza Encore Grinder to the Fellow Ode Brew Grinder

As someone who works from home, having a good cup of coffee is really important to me. This is also why my blog tends to be full of coffee posts like this one. If you have read my other posts or have spent time in my home you may know that I have used and recommended the Baratza Encore coffee grinder for years now. Even as I write this I would still say it is a great buy and would recommend it. Though I am here to admit that this past Christmas I recently switched to the Fellow Ode Brew Grinder. And here are three reasons why I made the change: (Well to be honest these were originally reasons why my wife wanted me to make the change. Now that we switched I could not agree more.)

1. It’s Quieter

When I grind my coffee beans in the morning, I don’t want to wake up the whole house (one that includes two young kids). The Fellow Ode Brew Grinder makes less noise than the Baratza Encore, so I can make my coffee without disturbing anyone.

2. It’s Faster

I don’t have a lot of time to wait for my coffee in the morning. The Fellow Ode grinds the beans quicker than my old grinder, which means I can enjoy my coffee sooner and get to work on time. The first time I used it I honestly thought it had malfunctioned because it turned itself off (another great feature) so quick. I was confused and had to open the top, only to see there were no beans left.

3. It’s Smaller

My kitchen doesn’t have much space, so I need appliances that fit well. The Fellow Ode is more compact than the Baratza Encore, which means it takes up less room on my counter. And while looks may be subjective Fellow is known for making beautiful products. This grinder is definitely a nice addition. Also while I am on size I have to mention that the cup that catches the grinds actually has a clever magnet system that makes it click really nicely into place. With the Encore I always found that process to be a bit annoying.

Switching to the Fellow Ode Brew Grinder has made my morning coffee routine better. If you’re looking to improve your coffee setup, I recommend checking it out.

Also, if you want to try new and delicious coffees, I suggest getting a subscription from Trade. They deliver fresh coffee beans right to your door, making it easy to enjoy great coffee at home. I have been a customer for over 6 years now and couldn't recommend them more. Including some of the best customer service.

Note: The Fellow Ode Brew Grinder is designed for brewed coffee methods like pour-over, French press, and cold brew. It does not grind for espresso.
