If you’re in the market for a burr grinder, you’ve probably seen the OXO Brew Conical Burr Coffee Grinder pop up on a lot of “best grinder” lists. It’s often recommended...
Walk into any small business in Hawai‘i today and you’ll hear it in a dozen different ways: there just isn’t enough time. Time to write the email you’ve been meaning to send. Time to stay consistent on social media. Time to follow up with that customer who asked a good question but never heard back.
If you’ve felt that tension, you’re not alone. Most of the local business owners I talk with are wearing every hat, and trying to grow while staying true to what matters. That’s why I think this moment we’re in with AI is worth paying attention to. Not because it’s trendy. But because it can actually help.
And no, I don’t mean letting a robot run your business.
I mean learning to use AI as a tool to do the things you’re already trying to do, but faster, more consistently, and without burning yourself out.
In my work helping mission-driven businesses clarify their message and streamline their systems, I’ve seen this pattern emerge: the ones who are growing in 2025 aren’t the ones who are working the hardest. They’re the ones who are learning how to work smarter. And a big part of that shift is learning how to use tools like ChatGPT to assist, not replace, the human side of their business.
Here’s how I think about it.
Every strong business message starts with something human. Your values. Your experience. Your voice. That’s still the spark. But once you have the idea, AI can help you get there faster. Whether you’re writing a customer reply, cleaning up your website copy, or just trying to turn a rough draft into something polished, the tools are here. And they’re only getting better.
The key, though, is finishing strong. Making sure the final result still sounds like you. That it reflects your heart, your brand, your integrity. That’s where AI can’t take over. It still needs a human hand to finish it off, to make it human.
I see this frameworks as; Human Inspired → AI Assisted → Human Finished. And I think it’s the most sustainable way forward for small businesses who want to stay rooted and relevant at the same time.
You don’t need to become an AI expert. You just need to get curious.
Pick one part of your business you’d love to make easier, and try something new. Not because the tech is perfect, but because the cost of ignoring it is starting to show. As may have said recently:
“AI won’t take your job. But someone using AI might.”
You’ve got something worth sharing. Let’s make sure it gets heard.
